A new chapter for Robridge, combining function, durability and a distinctly modern design.

← Back to journal

Robridge has always been about more than just getting on the water. It’s about the people, the places and the opportunities that make watersports what they are. Now, we’re taking that idea beyond the board and into something we use every day. Our first pair of sunglasses marks a new chapter for Robridge. Designed with life on the water in mind, they’re built to handle harsh conditions, long days outside and everything that comes with an active lifestyle — while still feeling at home away from the water. This is the beginning of Robridge Eyewear.

Where the idea came from

The idea for Robridge sunglasses came from something simple: we spend a lot of time outside. Whether it’s sailing, windsurfing, wingfoiling or simply being around the water, sunglasses are part of everyday life. But we wanted to create something that felt like Robridge — functional enough for the water, durable enough for an active lifestyle, and clean enough to wear anywhere. Rather than creating a product just for the sake of having one, we wanted our first piece of Robridge equipment to be something we would genuinely use ourselves. That became the starting point for Robridge Eyewear. From there, the idea grew into creating a pair that combines performance with the understated, robust style we want Robridge to be known for.

Building it

From the beginning, there were a few things we weren’t willing to compromise on. The sunglasses had to be durable, comfortable and practical enough for long days on the water, while still looking refined enough to wear away from it. They were designed with an active lifestyle in mind. Bright sun, salt water, wind, movement and constant use all come with the territory, so the sunglasses needed to feel like equipment rather than just an accessory. At the same time, performance wasn’t going to come at the expense of design. We wanted something clean and understated, with a strong silhouette and the Robridge identity built into the details rather than simply printed across the frame. The result we’re working towards is simple: sunglasses that are built for the conditions, but don’t look out of place anywhere else.

What's next

The first pair is only the starting point. Our aim is to build Robridge Eyewear into a small range of products that share the same principles: durable construction, practical performance and a design that works both on and off the water. As the line develops, we want to explore different frame styles, lens options and designs for different conditions and uses. But we’re not interested in releasing products simply to make the range bigger. Every addition needs to have a reason to exist and meet the same standards we set for the first pair. For now, the focus is on getting the first Robridge sunglasses right. When we've finished that, there’s a lot more we can build from it.
